The main goal on "King Of Rock" is to match the notes as they reach the fret bar. The controls of the guitar are: "green: 1-4-7", "red: 2-5-8" and "yellow: 3-6-9". The controls of the drums are: "green: 1-4", "red: 2-5" and "yellow: 3-6" while the number keys "7-8-9-0" are used for the kick pedal which is represented on-screen as a purple bar. To collect star power you must hit complete groups of star notes. Release star power with the centre navigational or "*" key to increase your score. The higher your score is the higher your final star rating will be. You need three stars to complete any songs.
